One-On-One Tutoring

*Due to Covid-19, 1-on-1 tutoring is conducted online

One-on-one tutoring has, by far, led to the greatest student retention and skill improvement than any other service we offer for obvious reasons. Each of our highly skilled instructors is able to detect the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student. The teachers use this information to help them develop a personalized plan to so each learner can take on their ACTs/SATs successfully.

Our one-on-one tutoring includes:

  • Skill level assessment
  • Personalized plan based on individual student’s skill level and expectations
  • Thorough review of content covered in specific ACT/SAT subject areas
  • Thorough review of strategies geared toward the individual student's skill level and expectations
  • Personalized coaching for encouragement, work ethic, and relaxation
  • Test-taking practice in session and for homework
  • 1:1 student to teacher ratio

Books

One or more books may need to be purchased by the student depending on the tutor. Students are notified of this book upon registration.

Minimum Hours Suggestion

We suggest two hours of tutoring per session. This allows our instructors to thoroughly review one to two subjects. However, students have the option of having only one hour. As a general rule, we cover one subject per hour. Therefore, if you want to make sure students are able to review each subject, students will need a minimum of 12 hours.

However, in many cases, students need much more than twelve hours for thorough content review. Students that opt for more content review sessions have the option of enrolling in both one-on-one instruction and small group instruction.

Small Class Instruction

Our small classes involve:

  • In-depth content review
  • Strategies that are specific to the individual student's skill level
  • Expert and passionate instructors
  • 30-36 hours of instruction
  • Practice with questions created by ACT/SAT (actual test makers)
  • Two full-length practice tests with score reports for each test

Each session will cover a main topic. The first hour of every class after the first one will be dedicated to homework review. We assign homework after every class, all of which is expected to be completed to achieve optimal results.

The number of classes that each learner needs to thoroughly prepare for the ACT/SAT varies from student to student. This is due to factors such as skill level, exposure, and expectations. We suggest at least 2 cycles of classes (24-28 classes) for a thorough review.

Students who do not begin on the first day of classes can join the class at any point if there are openings. In addition, students not preparing for particular exams but just wanting to take a prep class early can also enroll in either ACT or SAT sessions. Our classes are held at the Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation, 7901 S Racine, Chicago, IL 60620 773-474-2540.

The cost of each class is $40 ($42 for credit card payments) per student, payable after each class attended. If the full amount is paid upon registration, the cost is $460 ($474 for credit card payments), saving you $100.

For those who want to register siblings, the cost is $65 per class ($67 for credit card payments), with a saving of $15 per class. On the other hand, if the full amount is paid upon registration for siblings, the cost is $840 ($866 for credit card payments) for the entire class in advance, so you’ll save $70. You also have to pay a $40 to $60 books-and-materials fee per student.
